Must be a series of indefinables that give clues--usually known as the jizz. Certainly the pipit, as a close relation to the wagtails (European), rise with an undulating flight as against the skylark's 'hovering' flight. The pipits usually call at least once with their "tweez" call. <br /> I'm not sure that that really helps--I worked hard at it until I became very familiar with both. As your comments suggest, they often frequent the same habitat, at least around Hobart.BirdingTashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08341646998037894004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18783751.post-11362367457602369522011-12-19T15:13:22.829+11:002011-12-19T15:13:22.829+11:00Hi Carole,

Do skylarks always have their crest?owheeljhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18132761492987681213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18783751.post-10941429344656714502011-11-28T11:07:10.143+11:002011-11-28T11:07:10.143+11:00sorry to hear about your unfortunate stumble and c...sorry to hear about your unfortunate stumble and consequences (good you didn't ditch your camera though).
